Chapter 19

The rest of the flight was spent with the men discussing the plans for the next few weeks. Bella and I moved away from them after thirty minutes of listening to them tell us we were not to go anywhere alone at all until they said it was okay.

“Please take your seats and fasten your seatbelts, we will be landing at Cork airport within the next few minutes,” the pilot announces over the tannoy.

“Angel, get your butt over here now, please.”

I roll my eyes at Bells and get up to go sit next to Connor.

“You know, babe, you’re a little bossy.”

He grabs my hand and pulls me down into my seat. “You ain’t seen nothing yet, angel.” Winking, he leans over and fastens my belt for me. Bloody hell, this man is hot, but he is infuriating––like I can’t fasten my own damn seatbelt.

“I can see what you’re thinking, angel, I’m just making sure you’re safe before we land.”

He gives me a gentle kiss on the lips and leans back in his chair. He exhales and grabs my hand before turning his head to look at me.

“I’ll give you one week, angel.”

“One week for what?”

“One week to forget our current dramas and relax, but then you and I, we sit down, and you tell me everything that happened in Chicago. I need you to tell me everything, and that includes the shit with J.”

I swallow hard “Wh… what?”

“Everything, angel. I want to know every last detail.” He squeezes my hand then looks away.

Shit, I was hoping that I had dodged telling him. I really do not want to go in to detail about my time with J, but I have no idea how I am going to get out of telling him.

We land and the plane taxis to the stand. We’re waiting to be told we can exit the plane, and as I take a look around at Bella, Connor and his brothers, I realise how much they are risking to help me. I can’t let them do it, I can’t let them get hurt because of me. I know they told me not to push them away, but what else can I do?

The pilot comes over the tannoy to tell us we can disembark while Marcus opens the doors.

I go to stand up when Connor grabs my arm. “Hold on, angel, I just need a minute with you.”

He waits until everyone gets off the plane, including the flight crew, when he pulls me into his lap.

“I just needed to hold you for a minute before we head out. Once we’re at Ma’s, she’s not going to give you any space.”

“Oh, I hope she likes me, I would hate to think that she doesn’t like me.”

“She’s going to love you, angel, but she is going to be full-on. She’ll want to know everything about you, and if it gets too much, you’ve got to be honest with her and she will back off, but none of this ‘I don’t
